MISSOULA, Mont. — The Jeannette Rankin Foundation is celebrating local students inspired by a Montana trailblazer.
Later today, fifth-grade students at Jeannette Rankin Elementary School in Missoula will be recognized during the first-ever Jeannette Rankin Contest Award Ceremony.
Seventy-five students participated by creating essays, artwork and living history projects reflecting on the life and legacy of Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected to Congress.
The top six finalists will present their projects before the overall winner is announced. Missoula Mayor Andrea Davis is expected to attend the event.
The ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Jeannette Rankin Elementary School.
