Social Work

Wendy is in the process of attaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with the ultimate goal of earning her Master’s Degree and finding employment in the public school system in her community. As a single mother of three, she balances her family's needs with the demands of her education.

She compares her educational journey with her experience helping her son earn a hiking merit badge for scouting: “We decided to hike to the top of the second highest peak in the Wasatch Mountains. I was extremely nervous, as I looked at the mountain form my home in the valley; the thought of it scared me to death. The actual hike, though definitely hard, was not as bad as I’d imagined, and I was so glad that I didn’t allow my fears to stop me. It helped me to see that I could do things that seemed unachievable – I just had to put my mind to it.”
